# SIENA SIENA („Secure Information Exchange Network Application”) ist (konzeptionell) ein abgeschottetes Netzwerk, das zur Kommunikation nationaler Behörden mit [[Europol]] eingerichtet wurde. Inzwischen ist seine Nutzung zum Austausch von Polizeidaten unterhalb der Europol-Schwelle abgesegnet. in der BRD ist der Zugangspunkt zu SIENA beim BKA; es ist unklar, wie weit dieses SIENA-Nachrichten an andere Polizeien durchreicht. Insbesondere gibt es die Möglichkeit eines „broadcasts”; die Idee ist offenbar, dass eine nationale Polizei eine Anfrage an alle SIENA-Teilnehmer schickt und diese dann nach Gutdünken die Daten z.B. durch ihre Rechner laufen lässt.
